Legacy In Motion.
125 Years of TMA
Overview
Toledo Museum of Art marked its 125th anniversary with an updated website header animation that highlights the breadth of its collection. The motion sequence introduces the commemorative 125 year logo and cycles through approved artworks spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and experimental media. The refreshed animation brings new energy to the museum’s homepage while maintaining continuity with its established digital identity.

Design
The motion system centers on the museum’s 125 year logo, which rotates to reveal a series of artworks chosen for their color, material contrast, and visual rhythm. The animation uses the logo’s offset outlines as a transitional device, animating them inward as the mark completes its rotation and resets the sequence. This approach creates a clean, cyclical motion structure that foregrounds the commemorative logo while giving each artwork a moment of focus. The result is a simple, cohesive header animation that celebrates the anniversary through movement, clarity, and curated visual variety.
